Fleet & Church Crookham Society: a great time to get involved
Over 50 people attended a meeting of the Fleet & Church Crookham Society on 22 April to listen to a very interesting presentation about the history of the Basingstoke Canal by Roger Cansdale from the Surrey and Hampshire Canal Society.
As a token of gratitude to Roger for attending, and to demonstrate the Society's support for the efforts of the Surrey & Hampshire Canal Society, our treasurer, Stuart Bates presented Roger with a cheque for £120 for a life membership of the Society.
Members present learned also of the many and varied activities that the society had been involved in during the last year, which included a lively discussion regarding the proposals to alter the way that the Harlington Centre was run.
The meeting concluded with a rallying call to those present – please recruit your friends and neighbours to join the Society and help us to make a difference. Our recruitment motto is “Fleet and Crookham Civic Society needs you, because we believe Fleet and Church Crookham needs the Society”. This is now more true than ever.
