October 2009 - SPLAT lodge Court objection to Pyestock Ruling

Following the Westminster descision to over-rule the Planning Inspectorate's descision on the Pyestock 'Megashed' proposal, local portest group SPLAT has lodged an appeal at the High Court in an attempt to overturn the descision.

September 2009 - Heritage Day celebrations

Thanks largely to the efforts of Gillian Wain, the FCCS provided an exclellent presentation at the Libary in association with the Fleet & Church Crookham Local History Group and the Fleet Pond Society. The event was a great sucess and thanks to Gllian for her extensive involvement.

September 2009 - Outrage at Pyestock Megashed descision

Residents and protest group SPLAT were outraged that a junior minister at Westiminster was allowed to overturn a recommendation by the Planning Inspectorate, thus allowing planning permission for the 'megashed' warehouse distribution prposalls for the old Pyestock site. Local MP's Gerald Howath and James Arbuthnot have been angered by the decision and have complained to the Minister responsible.

September 2009 - Parking at Fleet Station

The FCCS submits a letter to Hart DC regarding the Society's concerns about the inadequacy of parking at the station.

August 2009 - Application for Amusement Arcade in Fleet Road

An application was received to convert an existing retail shop into an amusement arcade. Many local residents and retailers attended the Planning Advisory Group meeting to object to the proposals. The FCCS also raise strong objections to the application. The application is expected to go to planning committee in November.

August 2009 - Application for 60 bed Nursing Home in Kings Road

An application for a 60 Bed Nursing Home at 40-42 Kings Road was met with strong opposition from nearly resident and the FCCS. (We are pleased to report that the application was subsequently refused)

August 2009 - Application for 14 houses in Bowenhurst Road

An application for 14 new dwellings at 26-32 Bowenhurst Road met with strong opposition from nearly resident and the FCCS. (We are pleased to report that the application was subsequently refused)

July 2009 - TAG Farnborough Airport expansion plans

As expected, TAG Aviation submit proposals to Rushmoor Council to increase annual flight numbers from 28000 to 50000. The FCCS has objectected and hopes to be represented at the time that Rushmoor determins the application (expected Nov 2009)

July 2009 - Fleet Carnival

A scaled back carnival event is enjoyed by the town with marshalling assistance given by FCCS members.

July 2009 - Strategic Housing Land Availability Asstmt. (SHLAA)

Hart's portfolio Holder for Planning, Cllr Richard Appleton meets with the Society's committee to discuss housing availability in Hart.

June 2009 - Unveiling of Nature Interpretation Panel

In memory of our dear friend, Alison Macallan who did so much for the Society. This striking and colourful information panel is a very fitting tribute to Alison and her contibution to the local community.

May 2009 - Hart Local Strategic Partnership Housing Event

Held at the Church on the Heath. Dealing mainly with issues of housing, homeless and those in need.

April 2009 - The FCCS AGM

The AGM was well attended by members and interested parties. The Guest speaker, Roger Cansdale from the Surrey & Hampshire Canel Society provided an informative history of the canel and was presented with the Society's application for life membership.

April 2009 - Funeral of Cllr Hugo Eastwood

Chairman represented the FCCS at the funeral.

November 2008 - Fleet Christmas Festivities

Another sucessful event that attracts thousands of people to Fleet town centre to mark the start of the Christmas season, with the switching on of the Christmas illuminations

November 2008 - Fleet Lions Firework Fiesta

Very wet weather surpressed the crowds for this years event. Despite the appauling weather conditions several hundred people braved the rain to enjoy the celebration.

October 2008 - FCCS Members tour of TAG Farnborough Airport

FCCS Members had the opportunity to visit the airport for an interesting tour of the airport and it's support operations including air traffic control and noise monitoring systems. The FCCS are regularly invited to attend these tours. Numbers are limited, so please contact a committee member if you are interested in attending a future tour.

October 2008 - Fleet & Church Crookham in Bloom

Colin Gray presented prizes to the winners and runners-up. At the close Colin was presented with the Pegasus Cup for services to the community. Lots of photographs will be in Hart Shopping Centre; copies available from Fuji Image Services, Fleet Road.
